A once promising career comes to a close

When Mike Comrie was starting his career with the Edmonton Oilers in the 2000-2001 season, he was praised by the local media as the hometown kid with stardom lying ahead. Unfortunately things turned for the worst and he became hated after a horrible contract dispute which saw him traded to the Flyers in 2003 and then to Phoenix in the same year. Well 9 years later and three unfortunate hip surgeries later, he decided to call it a career. The 31 year old who played in 589 games with the Coyotes, Islanders, Penguins and 2 seperate stints with both the Oilers and the Senators, scored 168 goals and amassing 365 points. He was also part of the Sens squad who lost to the Ducks in the 2007 Cup finals. If Comrie never had that awful contract dispute and having the nagging hip injury, he would of amassed more points totals. All we can say is he will enjoy retired life as he is most likely going to overtake the famous furniture store The Brick from which his father and uncles founded and of course married life with the one and only Hilary Duff.
